Bienvenido a Bocas del Toro

My first week in Bocas del Toro, Panama has been incredible! I have Spanish class every morning and spend most afternoons exploring. I'm staying with a host family for the first two weeks. This is my host sister Heidy, she's 4 and loves to dance. She refers to me as "gringa", never Megan. The family is very nice, but it's quite an adjustment to their lifestyle. They only have running water twice a day for an hour each time. That's the hardest thing to get used to.

I'm staying on the main island called Isla Colón. There are, I think, four or five more islands in the Bocas del Toro province. We walked to the only beach you can reach by foot on Monday after class. It is so beautiful!

Unfortunately, I couldn't go swimming because my backpack didn't arrive till Tuesday. It was a tough few days in the same clothes with none of my stuff, but island living is the best and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!
